HI-MACS® Design Contest 2007

The 2007 Design Contest showed how good HI-MACS® can look in a bathroom.

The first HI-MACS® Design Contest took place in 2007 in Prague. Four young designers created unique designs on the theme of “Bathrooms“ using HI-MACS® in conjunction with Polytrade CE and the Galerie Design Centrumin. The results produced by the Czech design students are impressive proof of the potential of the participants, and the limitless possibilities of HI-MACS® too. Once completed, the creations were shown at exhibitions and trade fairs throughout Europe.

Material:

HI-MACS®, Alpine White, Black, Orange and Sky Blue

Design: ZDENEK PUDIL

The fundamental thinking of Zdenek Pudil in designing this washbasin was to create a harmony between artistic expression, functional and user-friendly design. The combination of these aims was achieved by the flexibility and countless possibilities offered by HI-MACS®.
The result: The washstand consists of a sweeping curved body with milled towel holders, with the sink sitting flush within it. A design like this can only be manufactured from 9 mm material; this sheet thickness is only available with HI-MACS®.

Design: LUCIA KARPITOVA

Lucia Karpitova wanted to create a family-friendly bathroom unit, yet at the same time the overall concept was not only to be practical but also radiate a homely ambience.
The result: a multi-storey washstand: both the higher shelf and the step for younger users of the bathroom, benefit from the stability of the material and perfectly set off the strong colours.

Design: KRYSTOF NOSAL

Krystof Nosal relied on the translucency of the material for his project.
The result: The modular washstand unit consists of shelving and a backlit wall panel – both made of HI-MACS®. The subdued light that this produces gives the entire room a calming and relaxing atmosphere.

Design: JARO VETVICKA

Jaro Vetvicka understood how to unite the flowing lines of his design with the homogeneity of HI-MACS®, thereby creating a harmonious object.
The result: The washbasin was very cleverly formed into an open elliptical shape by thermoforming – and capitivates with its gentle, minimalist lines.
