The International Jury

Jonathan J. Clarke - Director of Interiors at Woods Bagot

Jonathan is a qualified Architect with over 15 years extensive experience in delivering award winning international designs across luxury retail, hospitality and workplace projects underpinned with a practical and straight forward approach.
Projects of note during Jonathan’s career include an office redesign for the London advertising agency Fallon, Lounges and training facilities for Virgin Atlantic and an Award winning restaurant design for Canteen in London. He was also influential in the design of The Core Club in New York, Abu Dhabi Investment Council HQ and the Global facade programme for H&M across the US and Japan.

 

 

John Nordon  - Design Intelligence Leader Europe at Woods Bagot

John is an experienced Designer and has worked on projects all over the world like for example in Japan, Thailand, China, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, USA and the UK. In Japan he worked for Itsuko Hasegawa and in 1997 he established the UK office of Ushida Findlay. He founded his own office, IDE-A, in 2001 along with a global collaborative network of small creative business known as smallGLOBAL.
In early 2009, intrigued by global practice and foreseeing the GFC, he went from the super small to the mega large joining Aedas to help them evolve their London studio by forming the bridge between their R+D team and the project work.
In 2011 he joined Woods Bagot as Design Intelligence Leader for Europe. Attracted by the Global Studio philosophy he has been working closely with the Leadership team to help develop the 2012-2017 Vision and in particular refining their existing Design Intelligence Methodology which encourages collaboration and co-creation.

 

Bruno Fattorini – Co-founder Bruno Fattorini and Partners

Former President and owner of MDF ITALIA and co-founder of Bruno Fattorini and Partners design consultancy. Art Director and designer, he is the pivot point around which the cultural and aesthetical research of the company rotates and that makes it challenge the market with a collection of highly identifiable products: wall systems, tables, beds, sofas, chairs and accessories.
A Talent scout and skilled communicator, sharp and intuitive in seeing the potential of a product, he believed in many designs from emerging designers and took them to success and fame: for example : ‘Le Banc’ bench by Xavier Lust and the ‘Random’ shelving system by Neuland.
A Careful entrepreneur with great trust in teamwork, he confidently embraced the culture of innovation: experimented with groundbreaking and environment-friendly materials, sought craft quality in industrial products, the tuning of yet-unexplored techniques, design patents registration and unconventional commercial strategies.

 

Clivia Bauer – Clivia Bauer Innerarchitektur + Design

Interior architect and member of the Hessian Chamber of Architects. Since 1999 she has been general manager of Cliva Bauer Interior + Design.
Based in Frankfurt – Germany - Cliva Bauer Interior + Design have projects all over Germany, ranging from new builds and complete restorations to decorating single rooms. Working closely with a network of established specialist planners, Cliva Bauer Interior + Design can ensure that any projects are completed smoothly.
Good interior design is based on the art of harmonising the creation of space with the ideas and desires of the users. The aim is always the perfect room, and that path involves searching for the finest material, the most beautiful furniture and the most original performance.

Everything starts with the material. For Jules Mesny-Deschamps – the Paris based interior designer - it is the starting point of every thought and every idea, whether it is for drawing objects or designing interiors.
As he likes to explore all the properties of the materials he choses to use, the final objects will always be as innovative as possible.

Martin Allen-Smith – Chief editor, Designer Magazine

Martin Allen-Smith is Managing Editor of interiors trade magazine Designer. He has edited business magazines across a number of industries, including financial services, technology, and communication and contributed widely to a range of publications on subjects as diverse as design, personal finance, technology, sport and business.
Since joining Designer in 2006, Allen-Smith has also been responsible for the magazine's own annual Design Awards event, and represents the magazine at design exhibitions and events around the world. He has also served as a jury member on a number of design industry awards.
