At the recent Materialica show, LG Hausys won two awards with two new HI-MACS® Solid Surface material prototypes developed by the LG Hausys Design Center: Golden award for Eco Pulp HI-MACS® - an environmentally friendly Solid Surfacing material made of used newspapers; and Silver Award for “Textured HI-MACS®” – a solid surface material which has a three-dimensional embossed surface.
Eco Pulp HI-MACS® - Golden award in the “Material” category
The Eco Pulp HI-MACS® is an environmentally friendly solid surface material made of used newspaper or other waste paper. Nowadays wasting natural resources, especially paper, is a major environmental protection issue. Paper is the most wasted raw material which can be recycled. LG Hausys developed the recycled HI-MACS® material using waste paper from other manufacturing processes. Natural patterns can also be produced using the colour of the paper and without using chips and pigments. The eco pulp HI-MACS® is a new milestone as we move towards an environmentally friendly market.
Textured HI-MACS® - Silver award at “Surface & Technology” category
Textured HI-MACS® is a solid surface material which has a three-dimensional embossed surface. It emphasises the unique sense of touch of a solid surface whilst featuring a soft 3D embossing design. This textured HI-MACS® is based on a new concept and is applied to the surface of home appliances, furniture and walls for interior décor. This 3D embossing design is possible due to LG Hausys ‘ unique manufacturing method, and is suitable for mass production.
