Attention all architectural students and design professionals!
HI-MACS® is now inviting submissions for its Design Contest for the fifth year running. This competition calls on creative individuals to explore the almost unlimited design options that HI-MACS® offers and, at the same time, demonstrate their own skill.
The 2011 theme is Urban Furniture – a subject that provides both young talents and old hands with plenty of scope for daring ideas and innovative concepts. Everything that makes urban spaces more beautiful, more fascinating and more interesting is allowed, from playful street lighting made of HI-MACS® to sophisticated park benches or modern installations for public buildings. Entrants who display a touch of originality and daring will definitely have the edge when it comes to compiling the shortlist.
Registered students of architecture or a design-related field, who are at least in their second year of study, are eligible to enter. For the first time, this year Professional architects and designers may also enter the contest, and will compete in a separate category with fellow professionals.

The closing date for entries is 30th April 2011.
The names of entrants who reach the shortlist will be announced at the end of May 2011. Finalists can look forward not only to a trophy and an attractive prize (high-value vouchers from LG Electronics), but their designs will also be produced as 1:1 prototypes and presented to a broad cross-section of the public in September 2011 at the London Design Week. In addition, all finalists will be mentioned in a press release which will be sent to the leading international architecture and design magazines, journalists and multipliers.
After viewing the prototypes and directly after the exhibition, an illustrious panel of judges will select one winner from each category. The winning projects will also be displayed on www.himacs.eu.
