HI-MACS® to show 2011 Design Contest finalists designs at 100% Design

The HI-MACS® stand at this year’s 100% Design show at Earls Court, London will be a unique exhibition of 8 finalist’s designs from their competition that focused on creating imaginative, innovative and practical urban furniture.

The UK’s first and leading contemporary design show is a hub of creative talent from the UK and around the world and a key event for interior designers and architects in the international calendar, thus a perfect place to exhibit the Design Contest finalists. The stand design’s concept has been developed by global studio Woods Bagot.

The competition of this year was conceived to allow entrants to exploit the extraordinary versatility of the acrylic stone product – using its durability, formability and ease of visibly seamless joining to create any three-dimensional shape desired. The non-porous and light-fast qualities of HI-MACS® also make it uniquely applicable for outdoor applications.

The competition attracted over 500 entries in two categories – Professional and Student – and the finalists eight entries (4 from each category) will be fabricated by Global Vacuum Presses and displayed at 100% Design.

The designs on show all had to be created within the parameters of: usability, commercial marketability, creativity, aesthetics, innovation and the use of HI-MACS® properties.

The winner from each category will be selected by a jury of renowned designers and architects and announced at a dedicated ceremony during the show.
