The famous Italian luxury lighting manufacturer, Penta, has made the most of the Euroluce 2009 trade fair in Milan to launch their latest product: The “Blanca” lamp. Designed by the Milanese architect, Gianluigi Landoni, this minimalist lamp crosses style periods and plunges us into the most absolute anachronism: although Blanca is really well anchored in present day trends by following the 'less is more' adage, its cubic and monolithic style reminds us of how primitive our planet can be.
To accentuate this aspect of the lamp it was important for the architect to use just one material. HI-MACS® was the right stuff for the job, offering great purity whilst giving a warm diffusion of light. This lamp’s unusual touch is the thick bright red electrical cable at a time when they tend to be camouflaged at all costs or transparent. The architect enlightened us: “I chose the red cable because it’s an intense colour which represents passion.” He explained femininity was omnipresent in his creative work.
Blanca will be presented again in the next ‘Abitare il Tempo’ trade fair in Verona: Hall 7, stand B2 from 17th to 21st September. The lamp is available in three sizes (mm):
Table lamp (small): Length: 250, Width: 100, Height: 250
Table lamp (large): Length: 450, Width: 150, Height: 450
Floor lamp: Length: 450, Width: 200, Height: 1600
