Designed by Turkish well known architect Mustafa Toner, from studio Toner Architecture, S Cafè was inaugurated beginning of October at the atrium of the most prestigious shopping mall Akmerkez in Istanbul.
Natural and tranquil tones are used in the design concept of the café, just like Akmerkez Mall’s new concept to perpetuate the harmony with the mall. The architect wanted to deviate and add uniqueness to the design through elements, such as the beehive separators, the organic bar and the floating canopy. The café is designed to give a sheltered feeling - a partial privacy while maintaining its interaction with the surrounding. The use of HI-MACS® beehive-like separators is the key element for the dispersal of this feeling. The use of walnut wood with Alpine White HI-MACS® material and natural stone flooring in a futuristic manner gives the warm and cozy feeling that is essential in a café. The simplicity of white brings out the organic forms used, while the lighting ensures visibility and welcomes customers even from far distances in the mall. “The technical advantages of HI-MACS® gave us the opportunity to implement our envision for this design through organic forms with nice and clear details.” Says Architect Mustafa Toner.
