An innovative kitchen design by DODK featuring HI-MACS® will be shown at the forthcoming Kitchen Trends Fair, 29-30 March 2011. The Berlin office of architect Denise Dih and designer Ole Klingemann specialises in comprehensive design concepts across all disciplines from architecture, interior and furniture design, to graphics and web design.
At the Kitchen Trends Fair in Munich the duo is presenting its design concept MARU which means “circle” or “completeness” in Japanese. It is precisely these round shapes that set the new furniture range MARU COOK apart as well. Alongside the geometry of the circle, the kitchen concept comprises individual modules that can be placed together at will, to suit any room or living conditions.
The two free-standing cooking island modules, which are being launched at the fair, are made completely of HI-MACS® and each has a radius of 120°. The convex and concave elements can be fitted with a hob or sink and, if desired, can be joined together.
Thanks to the mineral material’s thermoforming properties, it was possible to realise the playful lightness and variable shape of the individual components. This architectural material of the “new generation” offers everything that is needed for contemporary kitchen design: a smooth, non-porous and dirt-repellent surface that is easy to clean and exceptionally resistant to heat and standard domestic chemicals.
For all those who would like to find out more about the material, how it is processed, and its material properties, a HI-MACS® team of experts will be giving a presentation at the fair at 3.30 p.m. on 29th March, to explain the many uses to which this natural acrylic stone can be put in kitchen building.
Apart from the new MARU COOK model, the MARU range also includes the MARU BASE concept which, providing unconventional combinations for reception spaces with team workplaces, is already being successfully produced and used. Other ranges such as MARU SHOP are currently being developed.
