The winners of the 2011 HI-MACS® Design competition organized by LG Hausys Europe have been announced at a ceremony during the 100% Design show in London. The eight finalists in the two categories – professional and student – were all at the exhibition, where their designs – fabricated in real size by Global Vacuum Presses - were all on show. The international jury was composed by Jonathan Clarke and John Nordon from the studio Woods Bagot (UK), Bruno Fattorini ( Bruno Fattorini and Partners, Italy), Clivia Bauer (Innerarchitektur + Design, Germany), Jules Mesny-Deschamps (Studio Jules Mesny-Deschamps, France) and the Chief Editor of Designer Magazine Martin Allen-Smith (UK). The winner in the professional category was the E-Moke, while the Naked Lamp was the winner in the student category. “E-Moke” by Daniel Abendroth, Stuttgart, Germany (Professional). A static bike-like object for public places for people to sit and relax on while gently pedalling to re-charge mobile devices. “Naked Lamp” by Mario Fuentes, Barcelona, Spain (Student). A single form street lamp designed to bring both colour and light to town or city streets – it demonstrates high aesthetic and practical values. The competition was conceived to allow entrants to exploit the extraordinary versatility of HI-MACS® – using its durability, formability and ease of visibly seamless joining to create any three-dimensional shape desired. E-Moke is an innovative static bike-like object for public places, which allows users to recharge their mobile devices while cycling. It is made from HI-MACS® in white and green colours, but of course it can be customized – thanks to the wide range of HI-MACS® colours available - to match the colour identity of companies or cities. The Front cover has a USB connector where you plug in your mobile device. Striking and savvy, E-Moke puts an end to worrying about running out of battery! Daniel Abendroth is a designer based in Stuttgart, Germany since 2001. He studied Design at State Academy in Stuttgart and Economy at Reutligen-University. He is specialized in exploring new technologies and materials for future products, and sustainable and innovative product solutions. Using mainly digital tools for design and development, he is active in the field of architecture, fashion, consumer- and luxury goods with his own company Inogram. “Naked lamp” – Mario Fuentes - Barcelona, Spain Winner Student Category The “Naked Lamp” street lamp is intended to bring colour as well as light to towns. Its luminescent base is available in a variety of warm and vibrant colours to brighten up the city, breaking the concept of the traditional surrounding objects. In the modern grey and polluted city appears a shining and colorful streetlamp, pure, bare, full of light and full of colors. The main part of the product is molded from Solid Surface HI-MACS® thanks to the thermoforming process. Two ‘Naked Lamps’ can be created using just one sheet of HI-MACS®, in just a few steps, no join is needed so this product saves material, time and money. It uses LED technology for the lights, the top light is a bright white LED and the bottom light is a low intensity RGB LED pattern that can create a huge range of colors that offer color-therapy for the passerby. ‘Naked Lamp’ also has a solar panel on top, to emphasize the purity of the product, its sustainability and its respect for the environment. It can be used in parks, squares, walking areas, streets, promenades, city centers as well as private uses like hotels, swimming pools or gardens. Clarke - Director of Interiors at Woods Bagot Jonathan is a qualified Architect with over 15 years extensive experience in delivering award winning international designs across luxury retail, hospitality and workplace projects underpinned with a practical and straight forward approach. Projects of note during Jonathan’s career include an office redesign for the London advertising agency Fallon, Lounges and training facilities for Virgin Atlantic and an Award winning restaurant design for Canteen in London. He was also influential in the design of The Core Club in New York, Abu Dhabi Investment Council HQ and the Global facade programme for H&M across the US and Japan. www.woodsbagot.com John Nordon - Design Intelligence Leader Europe at Woods Bagot John is an experienced Designer and has worked on projects all over the world like for example in Japan, Thailand, China, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, USA and the UK. In Japan he worked for Itsuko Hasegawa and in 1997 he established the UK office of Ushida Findlay. He founded his own office, IDE-A, in 2001 along with a global collaborative network of small creative business known as smallGLOBAL. In early 2009, intrigued by global practice and foreseeing the GFC, he went from the super small to the mega large joining Aedas to help them evolve their London studio by forming the bridge between their R+D team and the project work. In 2011 he joined Woods Bagot as Design Intelligence Leader for Europe. E-Moke est un objet fixe novateur, une sorte de vélo conçu pour les espaces publics qui permet à l’utilisateur de recharger son téléphone portable tout en pédalant. Il est réalisé en HI-MACS® dans les couleurs blanc et vert, mais peut être personnalisé – grâce à la vaste gamme de couleurs - pour correspondre à l’ADN chromatique d’une entreprise ou d’une ville. Les chargeurs peuvent être facilement branchés à la prise USB située sur le devant. Écologique et astucieux, E-Moke met fin aux soucis de rechargement de batterie ! Daniel Abendroth est un designer basé à Stuttgart (Allemagne) depuis 2001. Il a étudié le design à l’Académie à Stuttgart et l’Economie à l’Université de Reutligen. E-Moke è una cyclette innovativa da collocare in ambienti pubblici che permette a chi la utilizza di ricaricare, pedalando, il proprio telefono cellulare. E’ realizzata con una superficie HI-MACS® in bianco e verde, ma può essere personalizzata – grazie all’ampia gamma di colori HI-MACS® disponibili – per essere abbinata ai colori propri di una città o di un’azienda. La parte frontale è dotata di una presa USB dove si può facilmente connettere il proprio dispositivo mobile. Sensazionale e di buon senso, E-Moke elimina il problema del telefonino scarico! Daniel Abendroth è un designer che lavora a Stoccarda, in Germania, dal 2001. Ha studiato design alla State Academy di Stoccarda ed Economia alla Reutligen-University. Si è specializzato nell’esplorazione di nuove tecnologie e materiali per realizzare prodotti innovativi e sostenibili. Utilizzando, principalmente, strumenti digitali per il design e lo sviluppo. Con la sua azienda Inogram, lavora non solo nel campo dell’architettura ma anche in quello della moda e del lusso. “Naked lamp” – Mario Fuentes - Barcellona, Spagna Vincitore categoria studenti “Naked Lamp”, lampada urbana, è stata pensata per portare luce e colore in città. La sua base luminescente è disponibile in un’enorme varietà di colori caldi e accesi per illuminare la città, sovvertendo i canoni tradizionali che vogliono il lampione come un semplice oggetto di contorno. Nella città moderna e inquinata appare un lampione brillante e colorato. In una situazione di desolazione, visto l’ambiente triste che ci circonda, “Naked Lamp” cerca di dimostrarsi semplice e pulita com’è, pura, ed essenziale ma piena di luce e di colore. La parte centrale del lampione è stampata utilizzando Solid Surface di HI-MACS®, sfruttandone il processo di stampaggio a caldo. Si possono creare due ‘Lampioni puri’ utilizzando un solo foglio, eseguendo solo alcuni tagli; non sono necessarie giunture così questo prodotto permette di risparmiare materiale, tempo e denaro. Utilizza la tecnologia LED per le luci: la luce superiore è un LED bianco lucente, mentre quella inferiore è un RGB LED a bassa intensità, che può creare un’enorme varietà di colori ed offre ai passanti una sua particolare color-terapia. Il “Lampione puro” è stato concepito, inoltre, per ospitare nella sua parte superiore un pannello solare, in modo da enfatizzare ancor di più la purezza del prodotto, la sua ecosostenibilità e il suo rispetto per l’ambiente. Dieses Projekt liefert eine mögliche Lösung für das Problem: E-Moke ist ein innovatives, statisches Objekt, das an ein Fahrrad erinnert. Es ist für öffentliche Plätze gedacht. Während der Benutzer in die Pedale tritt, wird gleichzeitig das Mobiltelefon aufgeladen. E-Moke besteht aus HI-MACS® in Weiß und Grün, lässt sich jedoch dank der großen Farbpalette des Mineralwerkstoffs individuell farblich anpassen. An der Frontabdeckung befindet sich ein USB-Anschluss, in den das Mobiltelefon eingestöpselt wird. Mit dem verblüffenden und cleveren E-Moke gehören Sorgen um leere Handy-Akkus der Vergangenheit an! Der Designer Daniel Abendroth ist seit 2001 in Stuttgart ansässig. Er hat an der Staatlichen Akademie in Stuttgart Design und an der Hochschule Reutlingen Wirtschaft studiert. Seine Spezialgebiete sind die Erforschung neuer Technologien und Materialien für die Produkte der Zukunft und die Entwicklung innovativer Produktlösungen. Die lumineszierende Basis ist in mehreren warmen und leuchtenden Farben erhältlich, die zur Verschönerung der Stadt beitragen und das Konzept der traditionellen Objekte in der Umgebung aufbrechen. In unseren modernen grauen und verschmutzten Städten taucht eine strahlende, farbenfrohe Straßenlaterne auf. Zwar ist sie angesichts der monotonen Umgebung sehr unglücklich, aber sie tut ihr Bestes, sich so zu zeigen, wie sie ist: schicht und klar, rein und bloß, leuchtend und farbig. Das Hauptelement wurde in thermischer Verformung aus dem Solid-Surface-Material HI-MACS® gefertigt. Aus nur einer Platte können zwei Naked Lamps hergestellt werden. Es sind nur ein paar Einschnitte erforderlich, aber keine Fuge – ein material-, zeit- und geldsparendes Verfahren. Als Leuchtmittel werden LEDs eingesetzt. Die obere Lampe strahlt ein helles, weißes LED-Muster ab, während die untere Lichtquelle mit einem RGB-LED-Muster geringer Intensität arbeitet, mit dem ein breites Spektrum an Farben generiert werden kann. Zusätzlicher Nutzen: Farbtherapie für Passanten. Es ist angedacht, ‚Naked Lamp’ mit einer Solarzelle an der Spitze auszustatten, um die Reinheit des Produkts sowie seine Nachhaltigkeit und Umweltfreundlichkeit zu betonen. Die Lampe kann in Parks, auf Plätzen, in Fußgängerzonen, an Straßenrändern, auf Promenaden, in Stadtzentren eingesetzt werden oder auch im nicht-öffentlichen Bereich in Hotels, an Schwimmbecken oder in Gärten. Er hat weltweit an zahlreichen Projekten gearbeitet – u.a. in Japan, Thailand, China, den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten, Saudi-Arabien, Indien, USA und Großbritannien. In Japan war er für Itsuko Hasegawa tätig, und 1997 hat er das Büro von Ushida Findlay in Großbritannien gegründet. 2001 hat er sein eigenes Büro IDE-A eröffnet, unterstützt von einem globalen Netzwerk kleiner kreativer Unternehmen, die unter dem Namen smallGLOBAL bekannt sind. Los ganadores del HI-MACS® Design Competition 2011, promovido por LG Hausys Europe, fueron anunciados la semana pasada durante una ceremonia que tuvo lugar en el marco de la feria 100% Design de Londres. Los ocho finalistas de las dos categorías a concurso – profesional y estudiante – estuvieron presentes durante la exhibición, así como sus diseños – fabricados en tamaño real por Global Vacuum Presses -. El Jurado internacional de esta edición ha estado formado por Jonathan Clarke y John Nordon del estudio Woods Bagot (UK), Bruno Fattorini (Bruno Fattorini and Partners, Italia), Clivia Bauer (Innerarchitektur + Design, Alemania), Jules Mesny-Deschamps (Studio Jules Mesny-Deschamps, Francia) y el Redactor Jefe de Designer Magazine Martin Allen-Smith (UK). El diseño ganador en la categoría Profesional ha sido el E-Moke, mientras que el proyecto español Naked Lamp se hizo con el reconocimiento entre las propuestas presentadas por estudiantes. “E-Moke” por Daniel Abendroth, Stuttgart, Alemania (Profesional). E-Moke es un innovador objeto similar a una bicicleta estática para ubicar en lugares públicos, y que permite a los usuarios recargar sus móviles mientras pedalean. “Naked Lamp” de Mario Fuentes, Barcelona, España (Estudiante). La farola “Naked Lamp” está destinada a llevar el color a las ciudades, al tiempo que las ilumina. Su base luminiscente está disponible en diversos colores, cálidos y vibrantes, que hacen brillar la ciudad, rompiendo con el concepto tradicional. El concurso está concebido para explorar, desde el punto de vista del diseño y la arquitectura, la alta versatilidad de HI-MACS® – a partir de su resistencia y durabilidad y sus propiedades de termoformado y de unión sin juntas visibles- para crear cualquier forma tridimensional deseada. Este proyecto propone soluciones simples para importantes problemas. E-Moke es un innovador objeto similar a una bicicleta estática para ubicar en lugares públicos, que permite a los usuarios recargar sus móviles mientras pedalean. Está realizado en HI-MACS® en tonos blancos y verdes pero se puede personalizar gracias a la amplia gama de colores que dispone HI-MACS®, para asimilarse a los colores corporativos que identifican a una empresa o ciudad. La cubierta frontal posee un puerto USB donde enchufar con facilidad los dispositivos móviles. ¡Práctico e impactante, E-Moke pone fin a la preocupación de quedarse sin batería!! Daniel Abendroth es un diseñador radicado en Stuttgart, Alemania, desde 2001. Estudió Diseño en la State Academy de Stuttgart y Economía en la Reutligen-University. Está especializado en nuevas tecnologías y materiales para los productos del futuro, y en soluciones innovadoras y sostenibles. Usa fundamentalmente herramientas digitales para el diseño y desarrollo, y participa activamente en el campo de la Arquitectura, la moda y los bienes de lujo desde su propia firma, Inogram. “Naked lamp” – Mario Fuentes - Barcelona, España Ganador Categoría Estudiante La farola “Naked Lamp” está destinada a llevar el color a las ciudades, al tiempo que las ilumina. Su base luminiscente está disponible en diversos colores, cálidos y vibrantes, que hacen brillar la ciudad, rompiendo con el concepto tradicional. En nuestras grises y contaminadas ciudades, aparece una farola llena de luz y llena de color. La parte principal del producto ha sido modelada con la piedra acrílica HI-MACS® gracias al proceso de termoformado. Se pueden fabricar dos “Naked Lamps” usando una sola plancha, y realizando apenas unos pocos cortes: las juntas no son necesarias, por lo que se trata de un producto que ahorra material, tiempo y dinero. Aplica la tecnología LED para las bombillas. La luz principal es un modelo blanco y brillante de LED y la luz de la parte baja es un modelo de baja intensidad RGB LED, que se puede fabricar en una amplia gama de tonos, que benefician a los transeúntes con las propiedades de la cromoterapia. “Naked Lamp” ha sido pensada para albergar un panel solar en su parte superior para enfatizar su sostenibilidad y su respeto por el medio ambiente. Se puede utilizar en parques, plazas, áreas de paseo, calles, paseos marítimos, el centro de las ciudades así como en usos privados como hoteles, piscinas y jardines. Clarke - Director de Interiores de Woods Bagot Jonathan es un reputado arquitecto con una experiencia de cerca de 15 años desarrollando diseños reconocidos con numerosos premios para tiendas de lujo y proyectos de hospitality y oficinas. Sus trabajos cuenta con un enfoque directo y sobre todo práctico. Algunos de sus proyecto más reseñables son el rediseño de la oficina de la Agencia londinense de publicidad Fallon, Lounges y centros de formación para Virgin Atlantic y el diseño de un restaurante para Canteen en Londres. También ha participado en el diseño de The Core Club en Nueva York, las oficinas centrales de Abu Dhabi Investment Council y el programa global de fachadas de las tiendas H&M en USA y Japón. www.woodsbagot.com John Nordon - Responsable Europeo de Diseño Inteligente de Woods Bagot Como diseñador ha trabajo en distintos proyectos en todo el mundo, por ejemplo en Japón, Tailandia, China, Emiratos Árabes, Arabia Saudí, India, USA y el Reino Unido. En Japón trabajó para Itsuko Hasegawa, y en 1997 fundó la oficina de Ushida Findlay en UK. En 2001, creó su propio estudio, IDE-A, conjuntamente con una red global de colaboradores creativos conocida como smallGLOBAL. A principios de 2009, atraído por una visión más global y previendo el GFC, se incorporó a Aedas para ayudarles en la unión entre el equipo operativo y el de I+D de la oficina de Londres. En 2011 se incorporó a Woods Bagot como Responsable Europeo de Diseño Inteligente.
