The creation of 3D objects by thermoforming.
The material properties of HI-MACS® enable the HI-MACS® sheets to be thermoformed into two- or three-dimensional objects under the controlled effects of heat. The material can be moulded to such an extent that a very small radius can be produced:
- The oven must heat the entire sheet from 160° to 180° for the thermoforming to be successful.
- Once heated to the required temperature remove the piece with heat-resistant gloves from the oven and place directly into a mould. Male and female moulds are required and the material must be allowed to shrink into the mould.
- Leave the sheet in the mould until it has has cooled down.
- Sand and finish off to a standard semi-gloss finish.
